Need new shocks!

Ok - here's the situation. 95 GT Vert has eibach lowering kit all the way around. With 4 people in the car she bottoms out and causes some type of squealing (sounds like a belt) under hard acceleration or when car bottoms. I don't see the tires rubbing anywhere, but she's bottoming out with 2 adults and 2 kids in the back. Shocks look to be original so I'm going to start there. Looking for a stiffer shock then what is stock that doesn't ride like a peice of crap either. Any recommendations? Price??? Also, any difference between shocks on a vert compared to a coupe? I've considered putting factory springs back in just in the rear of the car. What's the difference between rear springs on a coupe compared to a vert? I see part listings are different on the two. Can you use coupe rear springs on a vert or is that not possible???

Thanks,

XCR5

you get what you pay for in shocks.

and yes it does not surprise me in the least that your
worn out original shocks aren't hanging with the lowered springs.

Blistein makes an excellent product. just make sure you match
up your shocks to your springs.

MM has some good info on their site as to what shocks to use
with what springs.

x2

I've also found some good deals on Tokico Hp's or Illumina's on ebay. That's the route I'm headed w/ the H&R supersports.

i would go with the kyb ones that let you Adjust the ride Height

I would go with the bilstiens. Like they said you get what you pay for. And you could be hitting your bump stops. Alittle stiffer spring should help that! H&R is good

I went with the regular kyb's gas-a-just shocks and struts.
The first thing I noticed was the size difference in this shock compared to the original one... much bigger.

I replaced every single bushing with polyurethane ones and added some good sway bars.
Along with lowering the car with the Eibach springs and adding subframe connectors, it's perfect now.
The suspension never squeaks and is solid... wherever you point the steering it moves sharp.

I bought the whole kit from Jegs as a package that says you can do 90 MPH sweeps with ease and it's true!

Kilobyte, do you know what model allows you to adjust the ride height? How does this work? Again, no issues with 1 or 2 people in the car - only when we have someone in the back seat. A little more ride height is all I should need. Anyone have an idea why I would get a squealing sound (like a belt) when under load or real quick when bottoming the car?

Shocks dont let you adjust ride height (unless they are true coilovers or shocks that have adjustable spring perches on them.)... the shocks that this person is talking about let you adjust the dampening factors on the shock, not ride height.
