Default anyone ever herd this

i herd on a stock 5.0 you can run 18-21 degrees of timing with premium fuel. im at 14 deg. now but 18-21 sounds bad ***. is that true?

Yep. One of my Mustang books said they got the most out of a stock motor with 17 deg. My buddy gets 14.60's with a 3.27 rear, automatic, and high miles. He twists' it up to 17.

If you're gonna do it do it very carefully. One degree at a time and notice for anything not feeling right. I wouldn't risk it though, not good for your engine.

Just try 1 degree at a time and dont drive nuts. Slowly work it up to wear it runs the best for you. I drove my car and it was way way over 20. Was a accident so i wont say how much but the car didnt break.

It's not gonna be an immediate thing, just over long term it will put extra stress on the engine with too much advance.

You turn the distributor and you can get more power since it changes the detonation point.
