91 pistons in 84 car?

RE: 91 pistons in 84 car?
the pistons will work (if the old 302 is is good shape still) just rember they are metric rings. just one question for you? why in the world do you want to swap pistons? if you have that 84 302 checked out it will probably need machine work so the pistons wont work. you can get a better set of forged flat tops from summit with rings for $263.
if you do switch the pistons out go ahead and change to the heads the ones that came of the 91, it will bump up the compression and make a lot more hp. with a mild cam and little better intake that 84 could do 200-230 hp at the crank (factory 1984 h.o 302 is 175hp)

a number of enhancements were made to the 302 HO (still topped by the 600 cfm Holley 4V with dual snorkel 460 air cleaner) including the addition of a racing-style roller lifter camshaft, stainless steel tubular exhaust manifolds and forged 8.4:1 pistons (replacing sandcast pistons) with thinner, lightweight rings to further reduce friction. Of course, these changes necessitated a revised block and heads to accept the taller roller lifters

you know if you try to use those pistons in your motor...its most likely gonna need an overbore, those forged slugs are gonna be under sized...your going to have some mad piston slap and blow by problems...just order some TRW 0.30 over forged pistons.

I would always use new pistons, but for some strange reason, people on this site do not like to spend money and do things right
