Default Cam trouble help!!

ok....i just installed a XE268 comp cams cam last weekend....now i just got a oil pan and im installing that...the engine is out of the car and while i was scrapping the gasket sealer off i noticed the cam journals were sticking out one side about a little less than a 1/4"....since the journals were a little off center the cam lobes werent directly centered with the lifters....will i need to take everything back off and move the cam the extra 1/4" back?? or is there somthing else i dont know of???? and also would i be able to use silicone gasket maker instead of a oil pan gasket?

The camshaft thrust plate should take care of the install. If you can't get the thrust plate on, you have a problem. Do you have the right cam for your motor?

Quality control at Comp Cams should catch a bad grind.

the thrust plate went on fine and yea i ordered a comp cams 351w cam and the recete that came w/ the cam read it was for a 351w. do you think if i put in the distributor, and the gears line up w/ no problems then it will be fine?

Once you put on the timing sprocket, and chain, that will hold the cam where it's supposed to be, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

You have a 5.0 block right? What year is it? That cam is for Hydralic ROLLER Lifters right?

I looked on the Comp Cams website, and the XE 268H is for hydralic FLAT tappets, on a 351W motor. You need a cam for a 5.0 block. There isn't a 268 for a 5.0 block. Double check.
