Default compression test

Gonna run a compression test on the cylinders today.
Instructions say to " Disable the ignition system"

I'm assuming you do this buy disconnecting the coil plug wire?

Depends on what the leakdown numbers are. You can have good compression, yet still burn oil.

How do you run a compression test...and what does 150 mean as far as compression.

Buy a $20 compression tester kit at parts store, screws into spark plug holes, turn over engine
and see how much compression it can build up ...... checks for bad valves, rings and such.
should read 150psi and you want every cylinder to come out as close to each other as possible.

How do you check for leak down?

Thanks, Pro50SC.

but if I have good compression readings then I dont need to
do a leak down test right?

Thats what I picked up from that link.

A leak down test finds where the problem is from a bad compression check. right?
