burning smell and new exhaust???
ok, i just put a 2.5 flowmaster catback on my 87 gt. while i was driving it around today, i noticed a smell like something was burning. not too strong, but it was there. i'm not sure im my exhaust my be touching my gas tube thingy, or maybe its just the newness being heated up. i'm clueless and was wondering what yall thought. i havent noticed it until i put the exhaust on.

This is probably normal. Although I have never installed brand new exhaust on either of the mustangs i've had, I have put new exhaust on dozens of others. It's not uncommon for them to stink for a day or so. When I put the flowmaster on my landcruiser it smelled for about a week.
Get under her and check for any hoses or lines that maybe in contact but my magnaflow stunk for a day after i put it on... maybe the resedue from when the pipes extruded and bent/welded etc.
I'd wait a few days and see if it goes away.

it's normal. the exhaust is covered in a light grease/oil to keep it from rusting. i've put 2 complete exhaust systems on 2 different stangs and they both stunk for a few days. double checks for touching hoses too though to be safe.
perfectly normal my mac system stuck for a couple months then again i didnt do much driving at that time and it was also probably my new high flow cats breaking in
this is why
