Hey all, I have a code reader for my 95GT, and it says I'm running lean with code 172, and I checked my Haynes, and they say it's a problem with my Oxygen system, but when I back-probed both sensors, they were A-OK. Checked MAF just to be safe, and it's OK also. What could be causing this, do any of you know?
i've found that unhooking your battery, for say 4 hrs, then hook it back up and run it seems to do some good. it resets everything and programs it. you might think its crazy and even if you unhooked it to put the new o2's on, it sitll might help if you do it for a prolonged period. just a thought, cant hurt, i do that on my gt and f250 everyonce in a while, the engine light might come on after driving for a minute but keep going it will go off.
Mine had lean on both banks, even w/ new O2's, ended up being a dirty MAF sensor. You can get low cost OBD 1 scanners at WalMart and Autozone 25-30 bucks.
OK, mdvaldosta, like I said, I have one, and have the code.........172. I checked my O2s with a handy little multimeter, they're good to go. What else could it be? MAF checked out ok. Any more ideas?
