Default Locks aren’t working

My locks don't seem to work right. The drivers door doesn't lock at all with the keys or pushing the plunger. The car has power locks but they dont work. The passanger side lock works but by the plunger or key but aswell not the power locks. Anyone have an idea before I start ripping things apart.

Sounds familiar

My passenger side door wouldn't open when I bought the car, couldn't open from inside or out.
Turns out the power lock actuator was screwed up and stuck in the Locked position. Since it was stuck, the **** couldn't go up or down, the outside handle was snapped trying to force it, and the inside handle's rod was bent likewise.

New actuator from the local stealership = $110
New door handle = $50
plus they have to be rivited in, which means the old ones had to be drilled out. So I had their body shop do it and hit the key scratches with touch up paint = $25

Sounds like you'll need to rip the door apart.

If you don't want to spend the $ for new actuators now you can just unplug them and disconnect them - use the key and plunger instead.

Get new ones, it saves on aggravation. - If you don't want to spend the bucks, then do what Horatio102 wrote....screw the actuators and go manual. -- </P>


Tip of the day: - Make sure the locks, doors fall into the right places, if your door is bent the wrong way (which is easy to do) the locks will go bad again soon, which is probably why they went bad in the first place unless they are just old and tired.</P>


oh, ps - if you want to go the x-tra mile, then screw the handle, get the pop-ups....and shave off the handle, the kit for that is just a bit more than the oem cost and brings all the hardware and looks great!</P>

Thanks guys. Im pretty sure the accruator is just siezed, but I had enough trouble getting my oil pan changed today (i know that sounds stupid but everything really went wrong) to have time to look at the locks.

Where might I find kit for the pop-ups? Like a link perhaps so I can just look at them?

I know JEGS has them, but I've seen them for less somewhere else and when I finally remember (happens when you get old) I'll post it here for you.
