Default headers

i think i am going to do headers with x or h pipe(undecided at this point) why not do it all right? so now whats better, shorties or equal length? which will open things up more? doing the headers with a high flow x or h pipe will i notice a big difference in power or torque? Obviously sound is going to change but what about power? worth the money? and should i open things up more on the intake side as well? thanks all!

equal length shorties are good for a street car. long tubes can kill a mildly modified motor's bottem end power.undecided on x or h pipe.haven't read enough info to determine which is best.

lmao you need to brush up on header info..long tubed headers offer more hp and torq at allmost any level...scavenging effect is more efficiant...equall length shorties are good if you get bigger then 1 1/2 inch.. try 1 5/8 1 3/4 either/// unequals are ok too but usually offer very lil difference inperformance usually//but dont take my word for it..read up aon it..at a reputable website not a shadetree one..

I'm pretty sure redneckstang was right, long tubes can definetly kill a near stock bottom ends torque. You lose alot of your exhaust velocity. I saw an article by 5.0 mustang where they took a stock 5.0 and dynoed it with and without LT's and it lost almost 10ftlbs at the bottom end and gain just a couple at the top. 1 3/4" headers are also much to big for a stock 5.0. 1 5/8" is good for close to 400hp.

+1 on BBK. I have the 1 5/8 inch equal length headers and a full 3 inch mandrel exhaust and love it.

lt..aren't worth the $$$ or hassle in a mild engine....and only show a real hp gain in the 3500+ range..with a mild set up the unequal lengths will do a good job......I personally use equal lengths but I have nothing mild
