something sounds like its grinding or rattling

i check the heat shields and there not loose or rattling. its coming from under neath the hood. sounds like its coming frokm the alternator. or somewhere around there. any ideas where its coming from. its on my 92 lx 5.0

my s10 is doing the same thing i thank it's the ac pump or the air pump about to take a crap on me.

Probably the idler wheel on the tensioner. Spray some WD40 on the bearing (as best you can) to see if the noise quiets down. If it does, then get a new idler ASAP!!

That thing doesnt really even have a job except to keep the belt tight?
