something sounds like its grinding or rattling
i check the heat shields and there not loose or rattling. its coming from under neath the hood. sounds like its coming frokm the alternator. or somewhere around there. any ideas where its coming from. its on my 92 lx 5.0

Probably the idler wheel on the tensioner. Spray some WD40 on the bearing (as best you can) to see if the noise quiets down. If it does, then get a new idler ASAP!!
