Default RE: How much can the old 5.0 block take?

Your pushing your luck man. The stock block is good for about 500rwhp.... Some blocks take more than that and last a while some blocks split at 450. My .02 is that anything past 450-475rwhp is danger zone.

Are you talking about an old 351w block?

your gonna have 2 4 cyl blocks when your done, 600 is way to much for a stock block and no you cant brace it to prevent cracking, cracking happens from the inside out, and you'll need a dart block or something similar.

Yes the earlier 70's late 60's 351W blocks are stronger than the 74+ blocks... Im not sure if the same applies for the 302 though... i dont think so.

I heard that they do nothing... they just keep the parts from comming out of the block when it splits or something like that. Not too sure...

a gurdle will only keep the two halves of the engine together after it splits, it wont make the motor any stronger. also keeps the bearings from walking
