Default Rust

I have some small spots of rust on the body of my 88gt. I was just wondering if any one could give me any info on how to fix them the right way. Should I wet sand the spots down to the metal and then use filler?

living in the rust belt has tought me onw thing. the only wy to fix rust is to cut it out and put a patch in there. you can use a d/a and knock it down to where it looks like its gone buts its still there. within a few years it will come back. there are some products that "convert" the rust but i have yet to see them work.

you can fix it for a few years or you can fix it for good.

Exactly what Mrbigshot said. I tried to fix some rust many years ago, but it kept coming back. At the time I was in Vo-tech for welding, so I eventually cut out the affected area, and welded in some sheet metal. Then I made with the bondo and called it an afternoon. In the time I owned it, the rust never came back.

it depends if its surface rust or rusted through metal. surface rust sand it off and get some primer on there. if its rusting through do what they said. best way to do it.
