Default mid pipe questions

ok, im looking to do my exhaust on my car, currently its stock. i want a louder, and more imp a very deep sound. is just changing the cat backs gonna do the trick? or should i put in a new mid pipe too? if so... what goes good w. the flowmaster american thunder cat back? and id like to keep it emissions legal, but am not dead set for that. what are the pros/cons of goin w. or w. out cats? i assume it would be a good idea to change the mid pipe, just because as far as i understand the factory part is very restrictive any way... so what are yalls opinions on this? everyones input/advice is welcome and appriciated.

Going with a catless H will make it alot deeper than a catted H.
