Default Another 8.8 question

I recently found a 4-lug 8.8 on craigslist. It has 3.55's that I would like to change out. The owner says it does not have posi, and that only one tire spins when the car is gassed on. Does this mean the limited slip is broken? I would like to buy this rear end, but I have no idea what I would need to do to make sure I get limited slip. Is that something that is included when I purchase new gears?

I just know that I dont want one wheel peel. How much is it going to cost me to get this thing spinning both wheels (but not permanent posi)?

Also, anyone know a good place to buy some 4.10s for the rear?

Thanks

It depends what car it came from....a stang should have traclok, so you'll just need a rebuild kit. W/ a gear install, you can probably get it all done for under $500

Yes, that means that the Trak Loc (fords version of the Gm posi) is broken, many times you can replace the clutches in a trak lok using a rebuild kit and no this doesn't come with gears or a gear install kit. You'll tie up an easy $500 to fix the rear end: $ 100 Trak Loc, $100 Install kit ( to reinstall the gears), $200-300 labor, $50 3 qts 75w-90 rear diff fluid and trak loc additive.

i would go to a junk yard or a salvage yard and find another fox body with a 8.8" rear end and verify that the trak lok works in it and then go from there, or else keep an eye on e bay. Good Luck

You say $200-$300 in labor, but how hard would it be to fix the trak Loc myself, assuming I have the rebuild kit?

I am also unclear on your pricing. Would I need a new trac loc, or a rebuild for $100? Then add the install kit ($100), and however much the fluid costs.

How much for a set of 4.10 gears to go in there?

thanks for the help

i found a website with a gear kit. You can choose 3.55s, 3.73s, 4.10s or 4.30s with the master build kit and lube for 260 so you should check that site out
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS thats a good site

That seems great, but the site doesnt list all the items shown. I'm not even sure what a trak loc system looks like. So I'm not sure that this kit has it. Anyone else know?
