another body work question
after sanding the areas with bondo they look and feel perfectley smooth and then when i put a coat of primer on the area, you can still see the repair. what am i doing wrong?
When working with bondo make the area of the repair about and 1/4 higher than the sheetmetal. WHen bondo cures it shrinks in size. So ideally you should let it cure before you start sanding. At first you can hit it with some 80 or 110 grit to knock down the initial height difference, then when its close start smoothing it with 220. When youre basically at teh point when your gonna prime hit it with some 400. 1 more thing, after youre done sandingyou might notice spots where there were little air pockets, theyll leave little circular low spots, there might also be lines from the sand paper. IF thats what youre seeing, apply a skim coat of bondo and hit it with some 400. Also, if at all possible use a sanding block, that way youll know that the area is perfect flat.
Question, what exactly do you mean by its still see the area?
