Default RE: question about compression

were is the fuel filter at ?
also i did get a wire diagram. buth thanks for the offer. I let the car set for 8 months (tank was drained bast i could get it) when i dump is a fresh 5 gal's i purged it a little before hooking up the fuel rail. but that does not mean all the old nastys stuff did not clog my fuel pump screen or filter. if someone could tell me were to find the filter i will start there, but i am betting i am going to have to drop the tank. i also have gotten the spout working again, so as far as i know my only problem right now is fuel related ?

the filter should be directly in front of the fuel tank mounted to the bottom side-of the trunk/back seat area. That is the placement on my 90, given how similar all foxes are I would assume yours is the same. You may need little plastic quik disconnect tools (available at any good parts store <$20) , just ask someone there, they should know what you mean.
How does it drive with the spout? Still worried about spark knock? Otherwise your fuel pressure drop isn't good. You can run out of volume and even still have pressure. I bet she is starving. You likely need a high volume pump or have issues with the original. Ideally any modification to the fuel system should be complete and balanced. If your injectors flow more fuel, take all options for insuring it can get extra fuel.

the guy i bought the car from a year ago said it has a ether a 190 or 255 pump ( i for get which on he said, but everything else he told me has been true so i dont think he made it up)
but i have not and i dont know if he has ever replace the fuel filter. and the car sat at my house for almost 8 months so i can see how the gas tank might be rusty inside.

i've always been told to store vehicles with a full tank of high octane gas to prevent condensation, and rusting, i suppose the oly way to find out is to drop the tank after you replace the fuel filter. But either of those puimps are plenty big to supply 24# injectors, good luck sorry i couldn't be more help

Nope, You can easily remove the filter without dropping the tank. It's right between the diff and the fuel tank on the underbody.

ok, doing some testing, i removed the vac line from the fuel reglautor
does not drop when i rev it with it off..it goes up to the pre set level ( 38lbs) but does not drop when i rev it. so that does not sound like filter to me or it would stil do it.
could someone do a test for me...go out and take you vac line off and put your finger over line while it is running and tell me what you pressure is. then rev you engine and tell me your pressure with line off and pressure when you rev motor is..
thanks
also were does your vac line from you regulator run too? mine goes to the back of my intake..did not know if it should goto vac manifold on fire wall , maybe its seeing to much vac

Default RE: question about compression

I just want to say thanks to every one that took the time to help me. it has helped in my trouble shooting..so once again THANKS

I was just thinking that my last motor ran about the same with these 24lb injectors in. so i am going to order another set of 19 lb injectors and try them. it really did seem to run better with the 19 in and set high.
i think these 24 just flow too much for my set up. i found another vac line that was hooked up to the old left over from the A/C delete so that may have gave me a same leak. and the car it self is running good right now just a little weeker than it should be but i also have the timing backed off a little till i break in the motor. so i will weight a few weeks to let it break in better then bump up the timing after i get the 19 lb injectors in and it run like i think it should.

your fuel pressure should be a steady 40psi with a loss of vacuum to the regulator. manifold vacuum is manifold vacuum no matter where it comes from on the engine (unless it is from a vacuum regulator which the vac tree is not). You may have a deteriorated vac line to the regulator. If it collapses, it will pinch itself off and continuously apply a vacuum to the regulator and your pressure will not climb up on WOT. I would replace the line and retest. When you rev the engine up, you basically do the same thing as take off the line. You have little or no vacuum under load, so the vacuum supply to the reg is lost and the bypass closes to give you max pressure.

that what i was thinking, i dont know why it does that because i would think that when you hit WOT that you have more vacuum. but when more vac goes to the reg it drop fuel pressure down, but with less it gives you more.
so am i right that you get more vac with WOT ?now my fuel pressure does spike at first when i rev it but then drops...i will order that filter anyway just incase
