Default starting problem PLEASE HELP

ok heres the deal..my keys to my stang got stolen,so I had new keys made..I turn the ignition over all the lights, heater, radio etc work, but the solnoid isnt kicking over to kick the starter, now when i arc the solnoid to jump it,it turns the motor over

at the itme the keys were stolen the gas tank was dropped out of the car and they cranked the car over till my battery went dead basically so I charged it.

any suggestions of the cause of the problem?

trying to trouble shoot the best Ican,I recently broke my leg and its kind of hard to do much myself

P S when i turn the key the solnoid doesnt click just the alternator does, again when i jump the solenoid it turns the motor(some1 said even if its bad it could still turn when jumped,im not sure)

any suggestions would be great
thanks

sounds like maybe your silenoid went bad or your exciter wire shorted out. If you look on your sileniod their should be a little wire between the 2 big post, they have inline fuses in them and maybe when they were cranking it over for long time it might have got it hot and ruined the wire.

Will it click when you try and crank it? What i mean is, when you try to crank it with a key, does it go.....click-click-click...you know? If it does, then the solienoid is good. It wont even click if its bad. Charge your battery over night, then see what happens, could be a weak battery. Ive been able to screw driver start a car even with the battery being weak. But id check my fused links like 92FBGT said.
