as far as i'm aware, MAP (mass air pressure, aka speed density) is the way to go. you get much better throttle sponse and far better tuning capabilities. i'm going to efi my 67 mustang, and i'm using a special map system with a custom tune.

I'd stay SD until you wanted to upgrade heads AND an aggressive cam.

MAS (mass air) is definitely the way to go if you are going to modify the engine. Speed density systems cannot account for changes in the cam, cylinder head flow, etc. It measure the amount of air coming in before the intake and cannot calculate for anything that has been changed beyond that point.

I do know that you can get away with speed density (somewhat) if you keep the stock cam and injectors, but the limit of power is about 300, based on the amount of changes you can make without affecting drivablilty.

MAS also provides infinite tuning potential...

i agree with these guys. the reason i'm going map is because i'm going to make air/fuel maps myself, but most applications dont have that.

I didn't say mild cam. I said aggressive cam. As long as you pull vacuum, the SD will take a cam without any issues. I'm a big fan of SD. It's too easy to go 12s N/A with mild parts.

after most points alot of ppl go SD but they use an aftermarket style SD setup for typical setups use MAF from factory a SD car will beat a MAF car or similar qualities

No, that's why I put the "and" in all caps. You can do heads. You can do a cam. You can do injectors. You can do a supercharger. You can do nitrous. None of these need custom tuning or a chip burned on SD. It's when you start making the power that needs more aggressive cam profiles that you lose the vacuum and cause havoc on SD. This power range generally isn't accomplished by the more simple bolt-ons. It usually requires heads AND an aggressive camshaft before you have SD problems. If someone were really interested in heavily modded SD cars, 50tech.com would be the site I'd go to.
