I drove a 98 GT, and it wouldn't turn the tires at all in first without the clutch. Then I drove mine, and it would do nothing but burn the tires in first. Of course, it had wider tires on it than mine does. It just felt slow in general though. I don't like anything after 93 and before 99 in terms of power. Just my opinion.

my friend has a 98 gt BONE STOCK, nothing touched 14k miles.... he was retiring a set of tires so he could get new ones before he left for school, trying to burn out and such didn't work to great lol, he nailed 1 really good donut, had it through first shifted into second and the car kept going after that it was all just dropping the clutch and leaving a little smoke, but his car is pretty quick, he is BONE stock and beat my other friends 98 GT both 5spds, kid has 3.73s, CAI,catted x pipe with slp loud mouth IIs, Shortthrow shifter and i think subframes... he beat him not once but like 4 times... /shrug
your right 94-98 was kinda crappy years for stangs.
