Whats wrong with a 4000 rpm converter on the street? I have yank 4000 and drive it on the street all the time, it's a lockup and is just fine. If his combo (and I have no idea wht his combo is) needs a stall that high, then why not. A lock up will give him the ability to drive it on the street and not kill it with heat.

You better get a giant trans cooler with that large of a torque converter. I don't recommended long street driving with a converter that large. Your converter will be constantly slipping on the street and generating heat that will destroy the trans. Only when you hit 4k rpm's will the converter lock up and stop slipping. You are not going to cruise the streets at 4k r's.
I don't know if the lock up converter would help. Call some torque converter/trans builders and ask them if the lock up would help.
From my past experience I have seen several people smoke many a trans because they were running too high of a stall speed on the street cooking their trans to death.
Switch to a stick and you can drive in 1 st gear all day with no problems. If you want to run an auto like described stick to the track and very very short drives.

jd...for a dd a 4000 builds a ton of heat even with a large cooler granted in the lock up it is easier to live with on the street...in my opinion a strip shift kit is need for a more positive shift
