I just bought a 1988 GT T-top car and the guy said he replaced the cable, which I verified, but the speedo still is sporatic.. I'll get in the car and at first it won't work then all of a sudden bing ! it's working. I checked at the trans and everything appears fine, no loose connection or broken parts. Should I check at the back of the cluster ?? Does anyone else have/had this problem, is it common ?? Help !!

 

yes it is common..I would just opt for a new one....a nice white face gauge look nice..also did you check the speedo gear in the trans?

 

I would check at the dash cluster and make sure it is plugged in all the way to the speedo first, sounds like it ain't plugged in all the way and sometimes it catches and drives it and sometimes is don't catch and it don't drive it.
