Default hopefully it worked

Hi,

I just read the tech article on the 3g alt install. I just bought a 90 lx vert and the engine revs up and down like crazy. Expecially when you put the lights on or any other electrical. The two black/orange wires were not on the stud. Could this be causing my engine to rev up so much? thanks. FYI i did install the two wires but i can't start the engine because all of the exhaust components are off. Hopefully tomorrow or the next day i can see if it worked. Thanks for any input

You need to put the black/orange wires on the stud. Cut them off the plug they were originally on and use ring terminals.
I didnt at first and my car barely charged and eventually the battery light came on and the fuse in the 4 gauge wire blew. I put the two wires on the stud and the needle on the gauge never drops. My headlights also dont dim at idle like they did before with my 75 amp POS and underdrive pullies.

No actually. It just didnt charge at all. I thought maybe it was my pullies so I kept changing them (I have 3 from the alternators and underdrive) and the last time the inline fuse blew. Then I realized I didnt hook up those wires and when I did the car charged fine and ran fine.

use at least a 4 guge wire for the alt power, not the stock wires, ford only used the 14 ga wire because of the stock alt only putting out 75 amps. small wire and big amps will make fire.

It could be a vacuum line thats disconnected causing the weird idle.

PM sent.

The blk/org wires splice together and change color. They do not go all the way to the stud on the starter solenoid. When they merge, they change to wht/yel or wht/org...something like that.

But you also need to use the stock wires too. Definately do the 4 gauge with a fuse to the starter solenoid though.

Idle air control needs cleaning, and you may have a vacuum leak
