RE: lowering car

i have the ford racing ones, they are nice but i would honestly suggest not going with lowering your car, its nice sitting low but not worth scraping everything. unless you have really flat roads and dont go over RR crossings. it makes its turning radius suck as well. but for the point oof lowering the ford racing ones arnet bad, makes it look nice

RE: lowering car

Well my car was lowered when i bought it so i cant tell you what kit was used, but i would definately recommend lowering. It looks better, handles better, and i havent had any problems with scraping at all.

StangTang
My car is lowere 1.5" and on the 17x9 Cobra R's

I barely scrape anything if anything.
Just dont go nuts when it comes to speed bumps and ****

Oh and I went with the Eibach Pro-Kits
Love the better handling tho
I say go for 1.5 :)
Any lower and you run into problems So I Hear.

RE: lowering car

I went with the Ford Lowering Race springs. Good price from Summit, and took ou tthe rubber isolators to get another .5" Love the handling now and the stance. I can't wait to see what it handles when I get my Ford Cobra Rs (eBay!) with the wider tires.

RE: lowering car

yea there is just way too much wheel gap for me, obselete i think that it the exact look i am going for. considering our cars look alot alike exept for color hood and spoiler haha! anyways most roads are flat around here, should be alright plus just looks way better lower to the ground. and i picked mine up for 540$ from o.e. wheel distributers off of ebay. polished and look almost chrome and still look great, about 700$ tatal after shipping and chrome lug nuts and chrome valve stems. i love em. but who cars if they are a bi*ch to put in if u can buy a spring compressor for 20$ nowa days.

1990 GT, custom cherry red/silver two tone paint, w/ 3 1/2 inch svo cobra r cowl hood, and 17x9 cobra r wheels, 5-speed.

god im in love with my car

Spring compressor? I didn't use one when I put mine in. One the rears all you have to do it disconnect the shocks and loosen the control arm bolts. YANK the old ones out, put the new ones in. The fronts are a little trickier, especially if you don't have a lift or access to one. Just take the wheel bearing nut off and outer bearing. Take the brake caliper off. Seperate the ball joint. Disconnect the sway bar link, yank down on the A arm real good. Put new spring in. Reverse process. I left a lot out but this is the basics of it.

RE: lowering car

well i bet i could swap all of them with a spring compressor in an hour and a half or less. how long did it take you unbolting all that stuff? it sounds like so much hassle why would you want to unbolt all that stuff if you really dint have too?

RE: lowering car

I work at ford garage and no one had a mobile spring compressor, only the one for strut springs. It actually only took me about two hours. My car is from North Carolina and everything just came apart so easy and went back together with the same ease. This way also I got to position the springs with them unloaded so I didn't have to keep tightening and loosening a spring compressor over and over again until it was right. Just positioned them in, then bolted the ball joint back up and that was that.
