Default I need some help please

Ok so it has always been one of my favorite cars and I think it is time I get one. A Notch 5.0, kinda inspired by my dad who owned his 69 mach 1 from day one until he passed a 2 years ago. I have always owned a VW and right now I own a 95 Jetta VR6 with some mild engine mods and alot in the suspension. I use the car as a daily and auto x and did a few track days with it. My main ? is how hard is it to make a 5.0 reliable and a good track car. How is the suspension? What would I need to do to make it handle on rails? I want to get one just to auto x and drive everyday. I am gonna sell the Jetta for about 5500.00 and with that money build the mustang if I do follow through. Is my budget even enough to make a mustang handle good? Please guys give me your feed back. Its ok I know i am gonna get flamed cause i drive a VW and its to you guys a chick car.

Look its like all used cars, there a good ones and there are lemons. If you want a reliable car make sure you check it thoroughly. But mustang 5.0 engines are one of the MOST reliable around. If theres any probs its gonna be in the stuff surrounding that 5.0. As far as getting the suspension mods and if you will have enough with 5,500. I would say most likely yes. But it all depends on how much you buy the car for and what suspension mods you do. If you spent the whole 5,500 on the car and just suspension, you should be able to get a VERY good handling car. Like i said though it all depends on how much you buy the stang for.

Buy a pretty clean notch for around 3K, and put the rest into mods. You could even squeeze in some "go fast" mods after that suspension is finished with some left over $$. With the right suspension and tires and driver mod, you can make a mostly stock notch really quick, break into the 13's i'm sure...

And oh yea, dont forget about gears. Should be 1 of the first mods....ususally 3.73's for 5spd and 4.10's for auto. Let us know what you do.

glad to see your interested in the stangs... a notch is a sweet ride, my fav by far, anywho, the stang can be setup for either drag or rally track use, check out maximummotorsports.com for suspension components, a first would be to check out the tech articles at the top of the forum, you'll find all the freebie mods, then i'd reccomend subframes, gears, upper/lower comtrol arms, tubular k member, poly motor/trans mounts, springs/struts & spring/shocks, also weld in torque boxes would be helpful, maximum makes a traction kit which has rave reviews.... something to look into! good luck [8D]
