computer question
ok ive never actually messed with an x3z, so whats the diff between an a9l a9p and the x3z? besides the fact the a9l is a 5spd copm, a9p aod, and the x3z is a cobra comp, what else is diff?
the cobra computer is calibrated for 24 lb injectors as where the a9L, or a9P's are calibrated for 19lb injectors. Plus, the cobra heads and rockers and intake and TB are Diff than a regular 5.0 GT or LX, so the computer's fuel and timing curves are different than the a9L, or a9P

but it doesnt matter which computer i have since im getting a chip burned right?

If you are getting a custom tune, this can be dealt with fairly easily. Just don't expect the car to drive to the tuner with the mismatch in parts.
Of course the injector settings are different as well.
As for ignition timing and fuel PW's...
The X3Z is actually slightly detuned from what the A9* computers are. Ford spent a great amount of resources getting the A9* computers just right.
The 93 Cobra was on a very strict deadline for emissions testing. When the time came to pass emissions testing, the X3Z had to pass on the first go round. Because of this the X3Z recieved a fairly conservative tune.
My advice (as an X3Z user), is to stick with the A9* computers.
Generally they are better known by tuners, and there is no performance advantage to using the X3Z (either with or without a custom tune).
How are you getting the car tuned?
By whom?
