Changeing shocks and springs

RE: Changeing shocks and springs
First get the car in the air by the means of jackstands, support the bottom of the front control arms that you are going to be working on with the jack, unbolt the strut up top (in the middle of the caster/camber plates), un-bolt the caliper, slowly let the control arm down and hope to god the spring doesn't come flying out at you (did that to me one time, but it hit my hand so that's okay, oh yeah if you've got spring compressors, you might want to use them), unbolt strut at the bottom to remove it (two bolts on near the bottom of the strut), remove spring, replace spring and make sure that it's going to seat properly, replace strut and go in reverse order.

a couple of ratcheting straps work good too.

that must be one of the most unsafe things i've ever heard. i know of guys who have died from springs ripping their heads off their necks from driveway jobs like that. do it right.
