I just bought a 2000 mustang gt 4 days ago. Now the engine its supposed to have in it is the 4.6 L V8 putting out 260 HP. But thats only supposed to have SOHC. I have DOHC which doesnt come with the 2000 gt from the reseach ive done. To me and a few of the other guys it looks like a 5.0 and looks like it has roller rockers. Someone told me it might be the 5.0 cobra engine from that year but im not 100% sure. 1. Just to clear you up..a SOHC 4.6L has 1 cam over each head so in fact it has two cams.. but 1 cam in heach head, thus it would be a SOHC motor.
2. in 2000 the cobra motor was a DOHC 4.6L. It had 2 cams in each head, thus it had 4 cams but is still a dohc motor, not a 5.0L motor. The GT did not come with a DOHC 4.6L.
3. Pics would help alot.

unless you count the R that is. ok either post a pic, or look up some pics of a 4.6 sohc, a 5.0, and a 4.6. then tell us which one it is. i highly doubt you've got a 5.0 cammer, and you probably have the PI 4.6. as mentioned before, SOHC refers to 1 cam for each bank, so really the motor would have 2 cams.

thats true.. but i doubt he has the 5.4 dohc r motor..lol. it deffanitly would not fit under the hood with that huge intake manifold it has.. plus.. it would be pretty obvious since the intake also says cobra r in big letters.lol
