I might be buying a 91 LX hatchback with a 4cyc. I want to change it to a 302 but what I need to know is will the computer out of a late 80s early 90s Crown Vic with the 302 work for it??

It should work, but I don't know how well.

If you do go this route on the 302 swap, it will be easier to take everything from the donor car. sensors, harness, computer, ...

I don't know anything about the Crown Vic computers though.

A crown vic computer isn't the way to go. They have a completely different firing order than the HO 302/351w. Everyone that does the HO swap in a crown vic switches to a mustang computer, so I'm sure you'd be better off with a HO computer.

Making it carbuerated is easier than doin a whole cimputer/wiring harness swap. As for will it meet emissions, thats hard to tell, youll definitly need cat. convertors (probably like 4 of them). what you need to do to make it carbed, is a carb inatke and a carb, and a distributor with the ignition module on it. Then you simply hook up your wire harness to the disty, make sure you get a fuel pump intended for carbs (5-10 psi). Oh yeah, you might also need a throttle cable off of a '85 GT 5-speed (auto's were EFi).
