Default lean adjustment

so i replaced all my plugs last night, because when the motor is hot it won't start right up (cranks for about 2-3sec). So i noticed that every plus was not gapped correctly (.40) and every one was white. How do i fix this? Thanks.... i gapped each each plug at .54

well, you hit the nail on the head with the lean suggestion. It could be a management thing, it could be an issue with actual fuel delivery (injectors, filter, pump, et cetera). Are you running a 5.0 now, or a 2.3? I would start by checking fuel pressure. If you have a voltmeter, you can check your oxygen sensor voltages to see when it is running lean (top end only, or lean all the time). Lean contributor diag is a pain in the **** when you have the luxury of looking at PIDs (sensor values as the pcm sees them with a scan tool) let alone trying to figure it out without them.

if you are going lean, the last thing you want to do is open the plugs

your actually better with a gap of about .045" you don't really lose anything, but you keep a tighter spark

i would check your timing, you either need to drop timing back down to about 12* on 87 octane , or use premium all the time either way.

oh yeah i forgot to say that right before i replaced the plugs the timing was at like 5-6 degrees.....i put it back to 10-11...i just bought the car....would 5-6 degrees of timing make it lean?

Do you only have this problem on warm restarts? And after it starts does it run ok or a lil rough at first?
