Ok i have a 93 stang and for some reason since I bought the car it has never had a thermostat in it cause the temp stays like 1 peg from the bottom on the gauge. I dont know why they took it out but what temp should i put back in it.

I would also spring for the "fail safe" if its offered... they are about $11 but if at anytime they malfuncion, they stick open rather than closed to prevent engine damage

There should be a small hole on one side of the stat. Make sure it points up so any air bubbles can get thru. Other than that just make sure the spring faces the intake.

Mr Gasket? Im usin a Stant 180 stat and it works just fine.
