Default just ordered BBK Ceramic Headers

I just ordered some BBK Ceramic unequal shorty headers and during my searches for info about them in the forum I've seen some people talking about the BBK coated flaking off and rusting out, is this common? My mustang sits in the garage during the winter and only comes out when it is sunny in the summer so I know weather should be a problem, but while installing them or working on the, is it easy to scratch them and if so will they flake off or is the surface pretty tough? Just wondering if I should have gone with some FRPP stainless shorties so I'll never see rust? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

typically its the MAC headers that flake and rust.... and you should have gotten equal lengths

why? I like the equal but on most of these very mild cars it isn't really necessary

I looked at equal length, but for all the hassle and potential issues for a car that is mostly street and rarely strip, I decided to forgo the 1-2 extra horsepower and go for simplicity, ease of install, and maintenance.

primetime, what are the FMS shorties? Is that Ford motorsports? I know FRPP uses stainless under their ceramic coating unlike BBK so that might be why you haven't had any issues? Not sure, new to this. And 2kwik, wasn't knocking equals, just a bit more than I need right now. Thanks for all your input.

Hey man, Im running BBK Shorty unequal length headers with bbk offroad x pipe and magnaflow exhaust. I installed my headers myself. THey went in extremely nice! Mine have no scratches or flaking. No worries. ANd for the member who said you should of got equal length headers. Hes wrong. First of all they are a bastard to install. And i have a Neighbor with a '86 GT running 516 rwhp with shorty headers. He thinks putting equals or longtubes on is just a waste of time for the little performance gain over shorties!

So just because your "neighbor" says so... you think equals are a waste... you have unequals, so you obviously havent install equal lengths... with the proper tools and a little know how (which i realize might be a little too much for you) installing equal length shorties is just as easy as unequal length. But I guess some people are just too lazy, but i'll take all the HP I can get.

Anyone who thinks equal length headers are a waste of time... needs to get their head checked.

Oh and guy... you just made my **** list... never say im wrong again!
