I know some have slightly modified distributors so that the bouncing of the boat wont cause missing. Plus the distributor may be vented.

well, as for the heads, what would be different, just the water jackets? And isn't the oil pan a little different? As far as the internals go, what would you use for a rebuild? What parts should you use if you want to stroke it?

i'm not verry noligable in marine engines.. i know they use an open cooling system that has heavier duty and less corrosive parts. some engines are actually reversed rotation.. all marine engines use brass block plugs instead of steel so that they will not rust away..
clearences are also a little more giving then in automobiles..like the blocks and heads run cooler because of the cool temp of lake/ocean water running through them but the pistons still expand just as fast as in a automobile.. but.. as far as stroking them and stuff like that.. i have no idea.. i dont see why you cant just use a regular 302 stroker kit.. andi would use forged internals. just my opinion though.

I think some marine engines turn the opposite direction, we tried to get a motor for one of our boats and found out the engine rotates totally opposite in a car motor than a boat motor, but that was for a 4 cylinder chevy engine.
