Default what is this called?

I recently got my engine back from a shop in short block form. I managed to finish assembling the heads and get them installed, but I have a problem.... There is some sort of metal piece that fits under the intake. THe one they gave me doesn't seem to fit. I borrowed this picture from the member gallery section. Does anyone know what the metal piece in the valley is called and if they made more than one kind?

I'm pretty sure you're refering to the lifer guide.

it's the spider hold down. It holds down the retainers that keep your lifters from spinning. Without it your lifters will turn and your engine will go boom.

What he said. You can clearly see the components in this link and correct terminology.

Thanks guys! Now that I know it's called a roller lifter retainer, I can find out if there is more than one kind. Mine doesn't line up to the lifter guides. It looks like it needs to be reversed....

thats strange, they only made one kind of lifter holddown spider that I know of.

I even swapped mine over from my old stock 302 on to the new 351W, fit perfect.
