Exhaust Q's
I just bought the Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-Back for my car. I was ready to order a H-Pipe(Off road) for the car, but then I couldn't decide between the "H" or "X" Pipe. The guy at Summit said the H pipe sounds better and the X pipe makes more power, is this true?
Thanks, Eric

ok well since you new, ill be nice, but i do recamend to search before you make a thread, this question is very common.
but the X-pipe does make more power, but very minimal to the H-pipe. the X-pipe is more common, but i personally am going to spend the extra couple bucks and get a prochambered H-pipe to go with my SLP LM II's, i think it should sound pretty good.

^^ That should sound really good.
Yea, the X might make a little more power BUT its very minimal. And it definetly depends on the car. A while back there was a guy who posted dyno results of his swapping his x pipe for an h pipe and he gained like 10hp. This was a VERY modified car though. I used to post it w/ these kind of questions but I lost it.

i have a complete mac system and started with the h and went to the pro chambers
the sound alone is worth every penny you spend, it makes noise like nothing else !
i thought it smoothed out my power but that could have just been in my head !
want good sounds spend the extra money it will reward you in the end

I installed the cat-back on Saturday and it got quieter(I used to have a hole in 1 of my mufflers) but had a good sound to it. Today I just installed the Off Road H-Pipe (Summit brand) and WOW what a difference it sounds Good and it feels faster and revs higher then before. I wonder if maybe I had a Cat going bad and restricting the flow? I wasn't expecting to feel the power gain but it is a lot better.
you could have had a bad cat or 4 haha hate the stock pipes i put a mac h-pipe with cats and the cats melted in less than a (year running rich) cant wait to put everything back together exhaust and trans are out of the car
