Default tensioner problem

ok this subject has been beaten to death, but i searched the old posts and couldnt find a good enough answer to my problem. i am bypassing the smog pulley and as you all know the belt rubs up against itself under the tensioner. I removed the tensioner and am looking for a way to raise it. I know the answer is to drill a hole on the side and move the spring, but how do i do this? the spring and block of metal are solid as a rock and where exactly do i drill? i neeeeed to be driving today, please someone help.

P.S I have autospecialties underdrives installed incase that makes a difference for the solution.

nevermind, problem solved.

I used a 75.5" belt and the original tensioner location, i had to go to pep boys FOUR TIMES to get the right size belt!! ahhh... but it is all worth it, now the 180 thermo, underdrives and MSD coil+wires make this car fly!

Glad you got it figured out. Mine was a pain too. I didnt have any problems with the belt rubbing but i had to go to the store about 4 times too to get the right size belt.

Please don't tell me you guys couldn't just pop the belt off and try the new one on in the parking lot at the auto parts store instead of making 4 trips back and forth to the place until you got the right belt length!! LOL

yea i wish, the stock belt i got did not fit with the underdrives, it was too big so i couldnt drive teh stang! So while i was at pep boys i got a belt short enough to bypass the smog pump and finally took 4 times before i got the right size. sometimes a pain in the *** can pay off what can i tell yas.

that's too much like work for them vfast, they'd rather come on here and ask someone to tell them exactly what size belt will fit and then complain if they get the wrong answer! LOL
