Default steering problem

i put long tube headers on my 85...all i had to remove was the starter and the steering rod ,spark wires (ect.)...everyone told me i would have so much problems but they were way easier to put on then i thought...but the problem is that when i turn the knuckle on the steering rod hits the header..i know theres an aftermarket steering rod to fix that but i was wondering if you guys have any advice on what to do...thanks

fab up a retainer for the shaft. something that loops around the top of one of the knuckles, should still allow it to turn and flex a bit, but not move side to side

motor mounts arent always the problem. have someone turn the wheel while you watch the shaft. if its moving side to side or up and down instead of turning, do the retainer, or replace your shaft knuckles

no. it works kinda like a driveshaft loop, makes it stay put no matter what angle it wants to go. unless its really that close, maybe a custom shaft is in order.
