Default quick question about 93 pistons

I know the things are hypereuctectic and cant handle boosts of any kind very well. I was wondering, can you simply swap pistons from an earlier 5.0 302 into the 93 or is the block different too?

It would be more of a hassle than it's worth. Either find another stock shortblock to swap or just do a full rebuild. I wouldn't put too much thought into the weakness of those pistons though. I've sprayed over 200hp on them for a long time. My friend put 10psi on them for 3 years until his warranty was expired on the blower. He then went to 16psi with it. The block split before the pistons gave out. They just don't like detonation. Bring enough fuel and don't worry about them.

So you think it will be OK to run a 100 shot with no tune on a 93?

I never put less than 150hp of nitrous on any 5.0 Mustang I get. Day 1 of ownership, no matter the miles, no matter the pistons, it doesn't matter. I'd put 150hp wet to a 250k hypereutectic motor and never think twice about it. 100 shot isn't even a test on those.

BUT, I always replace the fuel pump if I even suspect it may be stock. Bring the fuel and spray it down.

he is right, with a wet shot theoretically their is no limit to the added horsepower. only the limits of the engine are what stop you. I was lookin in summit and i saw keith black sil-o-lite pistons are only like 180 bucks for a .030 over set! but they are hyperutetic, after i saw that i went psh not for my motor. but after hearing you i am thinkin about it now.

It's taken quite awhile to get that confident. My first nitrous motor was a Chevy 355 with a 4 bolt main, forged crank, rods and pistons. You couldn't have paid me to spray over 125hp for the first year on it. And I ended up spraying twice that on the same motor before I upgraded to a stroker. It could have taken more though. But I think I should clarify something...

I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE TO SPRAY MORE THAN 150HP ON THEIR STOCK SHORTBLOCKS!!! Yes, your motor will take it without any issues. Yes, I would do it if I owned your cars. But if you are needing recommendations, then you probably don't have the experience to safely do it. You probably aren't familiar enough with tuning the systems. If you are fully capable of safely operating a 200+hp shot on your stock shortblock (because it WILL take it), then you wouldn't be asking for recommendations, would you?

DON'T! Remove those thoughts from your head. You will be kicking yourself later for building a new, fresh motor and handicapping it from the start because you wanted to save $220 on pistons. That's a small price in the grand scheme of things. Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean you should. You compete in the Special Olympics because you were born a retard. You don't start eating paint just so you can compete. You use hypereutectic motor when that's what you have. You don't build them from scratch.

So in-other-words what your saying is that the block can handle it; but the driver cannot?
