you said last night that 96-97 1/2 explorer heads are the same heads as 94-95 cobra. right? if so... i got an Autozone salvage part quote of $199 a piece for 96 explorer 5.0 heads. good deal?

you can get them on ebay for a little bit cheaper.. but if your looking at $400 for a set then yes, its a good deal.

96-97.5 explorer 5.0 heads are GT-40 heads but they are a low compression model. you will need to get them decked atleast .020 to get the same 9:1 compression that your car has stock!

what is a autozone salvage part quote? can my local auto zone do that?

Is the combustion chamber different from the Cobras?
the Explorers have a 66-67cc chamber where the cobras have a 64cc chamber. it just makes for lower compression in the explorer motors

yes. ask for it. i went in wearing my shop uniform and asked him for heads from a 96 explorer, he gave me a slip with a number to call.
