I have a king cobra and it is a good clutch for the money. Read and heard too many horror stories of people with SPECs in daily drivers.

killed a cobra clutch in 3k miles... never used spec but heard they are good... i personaly have a centerforce and like it

RE: Clutch ques...

I will say though the Cobra doesnt have the grabbing power I expected and experience in buddies cars. Has too much slip to it IMO.

We have a Spec stage 1 on our mild 93 and its easy to drive and it grabs really good. It aslo allows just a littl ebit of slip to help lay down some rubber when you want. I would definatley buy a Spec again.

I have the KC and don't have any beef with it other than the pedal tension, and I am pretty sure that is sourced by something else. I didn't install it so I have no idea what the hell I am working with in regards to adjuster and quadrant, but as a clutch - its great. 1-2-3 burnouts, powershifts, 2nd gear clutch drops from a roll anda stop and it just grabs. I never smell it burn, I never get a chatter, and it only slips if I drive it likea bitch. I have heard people with 500hp running KC's with no trouble but then you get people like 94gtcoupe that eat one up in an oil change.... Bottom line for me - Its a good clutch especially for the $

i have a king cobra in my 69 stang and have put about 1000 miles on it. grabs well and the cost is very reasonable.

my buddy is running 12.43 in his 89 lx with a king cobra it hasnt slipped once and its the same clutch that was in the car when he bought it...I personally believe the king cobra will out live the T-5 as long as you are a good driver, the KC is just pretty much evenly match for the T-5

I'm running the Ram HD and love it. It grabs really well for mild to moderately modded stangs...anything more and I'd look at a Spec stage 2. I've heard a lot of horror stories from local guys about Centerforce....discs break. They also may have been running more power than the clutch was designed for so just take that at face value....

hell my stock clutch is hard enough for me to push, i guess im used to the girly clutch that i thought was stiff in an RX-7, hell now i get in it and bought put a whole in the floor its so much easier! loli havefelt a KC and i dont plan on getting one anytime soon.. if the stocker goes out which seems pretty good so far, ill look at a spec stage2 or maybe a centerforce.

I really need help. My clutch is hard as a rock. My dads87 Gt all stock has a nice gently clutch.I bought my 86Gt with a rock hard clutch and then replaced it with a King Cobra clutch. It was still hard as a rock, I then tried a stock pressure plate with no difference. I just put in a Spec 2 with Brand New Clutch Fork, Pivot Ball, Urethane Mount, Adjustable clutch cable with firewall mount andpilot bearing, It is still hard as a rock. I changed the throwout bearing both times and had the flywheel resurfaced. Its not that I'm weak I just know from driving other 5.0's that mine is just not right. PLEASE HELP

to stang8689-i agree with Addermk2--mine was like that and i took the clutch cable off sprayed carb cleaner, then wd-40 in it made sure it was sliding smoothly and it was a ton easier
