No replacement for CID plus it's the CID of the single baddest engine produced by Ford, which makes it top the Kewl List. You'll need an aftermarket block to go the 427 and make it reasonably reliable otherwise I'd go no more than 408. The 427 is on my "one of these days" project list.

because you'll break it real fast because the 351w is a real meaty block but soon enough it'll snap in half. but if i was going up that far i'd get a cleaveland instead of a windsor.

i would say its not unreasonable to go 427 with a 88 351windsor block, my father in law is the ford guru around the house and i helped them build a 427 from a 351windsor block out ofan old ford pickup, whatever year model it was that had red and white paint job, i wanna say 69 or so but i said why not an after market block he said because it had been run and it was seasoned. he got her worked and off he went. that was 3 years ago and the car still runs 10.30s all night long and not to mention a 175 shot on it. i guess its what your flavor is. i mean i swear by eaton gears and i got buddies that curse em.

thats got absolutely squat to do with strength of ablock in my oppinion, the block needs to be worked correctly and it doesnt matter what size motor you stroke, they just dont ever last as long as the ones that arent, ya know the heads that are on my 306 i can take rightoff and put on a 351 windsor and bolt right up. the higher the bore the warmer shes gonna run too and i aint talking fast warm im talking hot warm. thats something else to think about, so youll really have to be ready to keep it cool, if not you will be shuting her down if you ever have to sit for any lengrth of time in one spot
