When installing a Monster Tach, which wire do I hook the tach up to on the coil? Its an 88 GT.

 

go to the maker of it's web site would help as some have different color wires go to diff. things

 

I did and it says to go to the negative. If it was an older style coil i would know which one it was, but this one just has 2 wires and I don't know which one to go to.

 

the green one....

 

well one is for the back light and one is for the negative on the battery. The black wire goes on the negative (on the coil) and the green or whatever color is for the light or backlight so you can see your tach. Hope i could help.

I found out the hard way on mine that the green wire from the tach goes to the wire on the coil nearest the fenderwell, not the side nearest the engine.[sm=trust_me.gif]

 

hmm well that is how it was on mine. well it should say in the instructions. good luck

 

the instructions tell you which tach wire goes where, but it don't tell you which side of the TFI coil is the negative side and the damn thing ain't marked either, at least mine wasn't. when I finally moved the tach sender wire over to the wire nearest the fenderwell, the tach finally behaved like it is supposed to! LOL

 

haha oh well i have the accel aftermarket one so maybe that is why.

 

I did that and its still not working, what could be wrong, I know it works cuz we just took it out of a car.
