Default 347 Stroker Kit, yes or no?

Hey everyone I was going to redo my bottom end and I was thinking about going to stroke my 302 to a 347. Should I do it? And if so, should I just buy a 347 crank rods and go with regular 302 pistons? What parts are changed in this? If this is a good idea what kind of differance does it make? I have a 93 5.0 LX btw, getting a top end kit on it soon, wanted to do the bottom end for supercharging.

the 302 pistons wont work, cuz, when you do a 347, the block is bored a good bit more than stock. and, if you have the funds, go for it, and if you want more power, go for it. plus, since you gonna supercharge it, itll be pretty damned quick. a blown 347 could easily put out 650-700hp imo. but, i may be overrating it, but, it will be a good bit. get in touch with any of the stroker companies. www.coasthigh.com, www.dssracing.com, and www.propowerparts.com. theyre the top 3 i know of, and Pro Power i believe is the cheapest. i know with Coast High and DSS you can either buy the kit or just a buy shortblock if you want. both of 'em offer long blocks too. good luck on the build.

If you go with 347, get a Coast High kit. Its got everything you need. They have by far the best stroker kits I have seen. Coast high kits dont do the whole oil consumption thing. For a 347, the best bet is a Coast High kit. If you maintain your engine properly it should last you around 100,000 miles according to coast high. So yeah I would go for it.

Blown 347 for trade

Do what Ford should have done to begin with, throw in some cubic inches. Or just do like this guy is doing, get an LS1.

Im still considering what Im going to do, Im going to talk to a guy who builds custom engines on saturday. He was given ownership of the place after the last owner started building engines for the McDonalds dragster.

Not that I have any expeirience with stoked engines, but I was talking to a guy at the local cruise night with a LX drag car he just finished. He built the engine himself, a 331 stroker with 18psi of boost. He says many people he knows with blown 347s have been breaking stuff in their engines. He says it's better to go with a blown 331.

we know this my friends....more than you stroke an engine the more prone to breakage when boosted....don't get me wrong a 347 with say 10 psi will live a happy life when tuned right...the piston for these kit have got'en better every year...my the 16 cubic isn't worth the peace of mind.....maybe a 351 would better suit you??
