Default Taking off air pump

If i remove the air pump assembly will i need a simulator pulley to replace it like the ac? I wanna get this project outta the way this weekend. One of my buddies whose a mechanic said just take the pump out and get a shorter belt. Would this work? What size belt would i need?

that pic is pretty small but i can make out the words would i have to get a new belt?

same belt size. top diagram is to elimate the AC. bottom diagram is for air pump.

This might be a stupid question but the second has the water pump spinning a different direction will this cause any problems ?
