Default X pipe

i have an 89 5.0 crate with headers, high flow cats, h pipe, and flowmaster 40's what should i watch out for if i put on a xpipe /o the cats. will it be so loud that cops will bother me and how much power and will i feel the difference in it?

it'll sound great, cops will only bother you if you draw attention, and yes you may find an increase in power/ throttle response

I also have headers with flowmaster 40s and I'm running an o/r x pipe. I've never gotten any attention from cops whatsoever, even as the car being my current DD and plenty of opportunities to be stopped its still never happened.

You should not have any significant difference as far as decible level/police atention goes if they both have cats. IMO it comes down to personal preference, if you like the deep, throaty sound of the H pipe, or the higher pitched, ripping sound of the X. I have had X w/ cats and X w/o cats and I love the X pipesound. My wife's has an O/R H pipe w/ flow master 40's on it and I think it sounds like crap compared to mine, but that is MHO. Either way, you shouldn't have any big worries, but if you go with an off-road pipe, well, that's a whole different story. Good Luck
