Default harmonic balancer

how do i remove the harmonic balancer? i tool the bolt off and the water pump but i cant seem to get the balancer off is there any tip on getting it off?

you should be able to get a puller for it at an auto parts store

you didnt need to pull the water pump. you gotta unbolt the pulley from the balancer, 4 bolts, allen(hex) key needed for removal. buy a puller from autozone. when reinstalling, tighten all the way down until the bolt wont turn anymore.

+1 on the puller. Don't forget to take off the large flat washer under the harmonic balancer bolt. It will never come off with a puller if you leave that washer on.

+1, make sure teh washer is out. Pullers are like $14 at Autozone, it's easy. When putting it back on put some white engine grease on the walls of the area the crank fits in, and line the keyway with some black RTV. Torque the bolt to 70-90 ft/lbs

if u dont want to buy the tool they will loan it to you for a deposit and ull get all of it back when u return it

i took the pump off because im putting new rod and main bearings on so i need to get the crank out...im gonna go tomorow to get the puller....when i take the balancer off how do i put it back on do i have to line it up with any thing or just put it on? also im gonna have to take the timming chain off how do i put that back on so its right?

do yourself a favor and buy a chiltons manual. much better than trying to decipher long-winded descriptions from us.
