it shouldn't be a problem but you need to find the correct speedo gear

Default Speedo Question

Speedo gear should be in the tranny. Follow the speedo cable to the tranny and pull it out. (at least, that's how the T5 and my A727 work)

The gear that came in your car should work just fine,it's possible that the speedo may be a little off depending on wether you have a 7 tooth or 8 tooth output shaft, all you can do is try it and see if the speedo is accurate. There should be a little clip on the gear that you just pop off with a little srewdriver, and yes it is located in the extension housing of the trans.

Default Speedo Question

You've successfully confused me.

The AOD came with the 4banger and the 7.5" rear end right?

And the C4 came with the 302?

Which rear end are you running? The 7.5 or did you put an 8.8 in?

Default Speedo Question

Ok here is the info , sorry to be confusing.

My car was originally a 4 banger with an auto trans , I forgot what the name for it was, maybe like A4LD something like that. A 7.5 rear of coarse , and the 85 mph speedo and guages of a 4 cyl

The 5.0 that I bought came with an AOD . But I took it off and went with a C4 instead. Still have a 7.5 rear end for now until i get money for gears to put in the 8.8 , then it will go in.

So I have a 5.0 with a C4 and the guages are from a 5.0 (140 mph). I was just concerned that the transmission change would make the guage read wrong . When I saw that you guys said I might need another speedo gear I was curious if the one from the AOD I had setting here would work since it was standard equipment with the 5.0's. I wasn't sure if the gears would interchange or not.

Again, sorry to be confusing.
