thought i found short, was WRONG

so i thought i found the short in my speedo cluster on my 87 GTthat was keeping the illumination from working. i found the dimmer switch heating up like crazy and blowing fuses. well, i just replaced it, the new one doesn't blow fuses, however, the instrument illumination still doesnt work. i'm guessing that i just need a new speedo cluster, or a bulb is blown. any ideas or help???

thanks,
jeff

the speedo cluster has about 20 bulbs, pretty impossible for them all to not work. the back of the cluster has a printed circuit board kinda thing, but thin and flexible. probably burnt a circuit in the leads to that.

lemme ask ya, do the a/c controls light up? if not, there is a loose wire behind the radio on our foxes that for some reason, will turn the dash lights on and off when shorted.

check behind the radio for loose wires. i guarantee that is your problem. any wires not connected to anything, make sure they are taped off good.
