Throw the gasket away and use a 1/4 bead of black RTV around the whole edge of the cover. DO NOT PUT ON TOO MUCH. just a 1/4 bead --- (that thick) will do. Let it dry for at least 24hrs in 50f degree air before you start it. The gasket does not seal well with RTV and does not seal as well as RTV.

I put permatex on both sides on the gasket when I put my car back together recently, let it dry and everything, and it started leaking immediately when I filled the car with coolant lol. So you should either try a dry gasket or do what the guy above says to do.

The best stuff to use is High Tack gasket sealant... if you cost the whole thing evenly, and let it haze over before assembling, it will never leak unless you leave a few screws out..

I have heard good things about this stuff also. Trick flow recommends using it on some of their products
