Flowmasters and Horse power...
Ok some places say that you gain around 10 horses from a cat back exhaust.... some say that.... you gain only like 2?
Something about having chambered mufflers make it not add many horses?
So what is the truth?

Chambered mufflers like Flowmaster and MAC don't make as much horsepower because of the increased back pressure, versus the straight-thru design of say Magnaflow or Dynomax. In real world performance, the difference between Flowmasters and straight-thru mufflers is about 0.1-0.15 seconds in the quarter, so around a tenth of a second depending on the driver. Those are actual results in an article I read on a 5.0 tested with several different brands of mufflers.
I dunno, I ran at the track back to back weeks after I swapped from Magnaflow back to Flowmaster and I ran a .1 faster - it was a cooler day though but all in all I don't think hp change by more than a couple, if any and I didn't notice any difference
flowmaster do sound awsome, they may not flow as good as others but you wont notice a difference when driving, the difference in hp is only like 1-2, say flows put out 10 hp, magnaflow prolly put out 13hp or less, its not a big deal.I heard you will gain 30-40 Hp from a full exhaust system, header, offroad H pipe, muffler, and 2 1/2 pipes all the way through. but thats just what I heard.so.
your gain are mostly due to increase pipe size....flow masters have very little back pressure as the faster the exhaust the more the "fins" in the muffler bends to straighten out the flow..if you want more power wrap your headers
It's wrap that helps with the heat and scavenging (moves the exhaust gases out quicker) also helps keep the heat in your headers instead of your engine compartment.
